The Phlebotomy certificate program prepares students for employment in agencies where there is a need to obtain blood specimens for laboratory examinations. At the completion of the program, students are eligible to sit for the National Phlebotomy Certification Exam.
Graduates of the Phlebotomy program meet all requirements of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists to sit for the National Certification Examination for Phlebotomist.
The Phlebotomy program is a 13-week certificate program consisting of 80 classroom hours and 120 clinical hours (HCPB 1710 - 7 credit hours). Classroom hours are scheduled two evenings per week. Clinical hours are arranged over a three week period during the day at various healthcare agencies and laboratories. The program prepares students for employment in agencies where there is a need to obtain blood specimens for laboratory examinations. At the completion of the program, students are eligible to sit for the National Phlebotomy Certification Exam.
